When you celebrate the Fourth of July in Corpus Christi, you get more than a fantastic fireworks show. For a truly American celebration, throw in some beach time, a baseball game, and visit the USS Lexington. We’ve gathered up the day’s most exciting events — with a focus on fireworks displays around the Coastal Bend — to help you plan your day.


10 AM

INDEPENDENCE DAY PATRIOTIC CEREMONY

Sherrill Park

101-199 N. Shoreline Blvd.

Hosted by the Mayor’s Committee on Veterans Affairs. Expect speeches, a flag ceremony, and the Corpus Christi Veterans Band.


3-6 PM

MAYOR’S BIG BANG FAMILY FUN AND MUSIC ZONES

Water’s Edge Park

602 S. Shoreline Blvd.

Rides, animals, games, bounce houses, and live entertainment from Chica’s Rock, Lanky the Clown, Botanical Gardens, and more.


6 PM

MAYOR’S BIG BAND PARADE

Sponsored by Flint Hills Resources, the parade runs along Shoreline Boulevard from Interstate 37 to Park Avenue.


7-10 PM

JULY 4TH RED, WHITE & BOOM FIREWORKS VIEWING PARTY

2914 N. Shoreline Blvd.

View spectacular fireworks and Harbor Bridge lights from the flight deck of the USS Lexington. Bring your own chairs or sit on ones provided. Food available for purchase includes hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, snacks, beer, and wine. Reservations and tickets required.


FIREWORKS VIEWING FROM TEXAS STATE AQUARIUM

2710 N. Shoreline Blvd.

Get a fin-tastic view of the Mayor’s Big Bang Fireworks as the aquarium extends its hours to 10 PM for the big day. July 4 ticket prices include a free hot dog and burger dinner. Other concessions and adult beverages available for purchase.


9:30-10 PM

MAYOR’S BIG BANG FIREWORKS

Water’s Edge Park

602 S. Shoreline Blvd.

Presented by H-E-B, public viewing available from Water’s Edge Park and along Shoreline Boulevard, including seawall and marina. Harbor Bridge Light Show choreographed to music on 92.7FM, 95.5FM, and 1440AM.
