The Art of Christmas at South Texas Art Museum

Build gingerbread houses, take a stroll through a reading wonderland of Christmas trees, or send the kids to a holiday day camp while you do some shopping, all at the Art Museum of South Texas, 1902 N. Shoreline Blvd. The museum is a great place to visit anytime of the year with new exhibits and Hester’s Cafe.

Here are some of the holiday events in December.


1-3 p.m. Saturday, December 7

Super sARTurday: Gingerbread Houses

For ages K-12; $15 for members, $20 for non-members

Frosting, candy canes, gumdrops, graham crackers, and more will be on hand at the annual Gingerbread House-making event at the Art Museum of South Texas. Come for a jolly good time singing holiday songs and creating gingerbread houses.


10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, December 14

Holiday Family Day

H-E-B and the Junior League of Corpus Christi join the Art Museum of South Texas to celebrate the season with "A Reading Wonderland Christmas Tree Forest." Enjoy holiday performances, H-E-Buddy goodie bags, book giveaways, self-guided tours of the forest, and Santa! All ages. Free to the public.


9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, December 20

Kids' Day Out: Holiday Hoopla

If last-minute holiday shopping is on your to-do list, send your young ones over to the Art Museum of South Texas for festive holiday fun. This day-long holiday camp includes ornament making, gingerbread house decorating, Christmas caroling, and a holiday movie. (Lunch not provided.) Ages K-12; $50 for members, $70 for non-members.
