Christmas events across the Coastal Bend

It really is Christmas at the historic Fulton Mansion, which is reopening to the public two years after it was damaged during Hurricane Harvey. The party at the mansion starts December 2. Check out our list of events across the Coastal Bend to celebrate the holidays all month long. Courtesy photo

Christmas across the Coastal Bend includes lighted boat parades, a tour of historic homes, and a symphony by the sea.


Here are some events to get you in the holiday spirit!

SINTON

Tree Lighting and Popcorn Stroll

3-7 p.m. Saturday, November 30

Stroll through Sinton after picking up your bag of popcorn at the Sinton Chamber of Commerce, 218 W. Sinton St. Vote on your favorite merchant's window display until 6 p.m. Tree lighting ceremony with live music at the San Patricio County Courthouse is at 6 p.m.

ARANSAS PASS

6:30 p.m. Friday, December 6

Illuminated Saltwater Christmas Parade

Bicycles and walking groups encouraged to participate but must be lighted in some way. Awards given to the Most Lights, Best Holiday Theme, and Most Creative.

ROCKPORT-FULTON

Rockport Tropical Christmas Festival

Noon-7 p.m. Saturday, December 7

Musical entertainment, children’s activities, visits with Santa, Christmas tree lighting, illuminated night parade along Rockport Beach Park, fireworks, food, fun, and more.


Christmas Tour of Historic Homes

11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, December 7-8

Docents in historic dress will be on hand to great visitors and explain the history of each home on this self-guided tour. Included are (1950) Wagnon home, 205 Cactus in Fulton; (1965) Papasan home, 111 N. Third St. in Fulton; (1886) Fulton Schoolhouse Museum, 205 Seventh St. in Fulton; (1910) Whooping Crane Manor, 505 S. Church in Rockport; (1953) Brundrett home, 1053 Allen St. in Rockport; and (1915) Collins home, 918 N. Austin in Rockport.


Holiday Symphony by the Sea

2-4 p.m. Sunday, December 8

The Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra joins the Rockport-Fulton High School choir for this community holiday tradition. Held in the Martha Luigi Auditorium, 1803 Omohundro St. in Rockport.


Home for the Holidays: Grand reopening of Fulton Mansion

2-8 p.m. Saturday, December 14

The Texas Historical Commission reopens Fulton Mansion after it was closed because of damages suffered during Hurricane Harvey in 2017. A ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. will be followed by self-guided tours through the mansion from 2:15-5:30 p.m. Also during that time, Santa will be on hand for photos in the multi-purpose room. A tent on the lawn will offer live music, activities, and informational tables. Other events include: announcements and lighting of the garden at 5:30 p.m.; caroling with Rockport-Fulton Middle School at 5:45 p.m.; and more photos with Santa in the multi-purpose room from 6:30-8 p.m.


Christmas in Fulton

6-8 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday, December 18-19

Visit with Santa and enjoy food and entertainment.

PORTLAND

Christmas Tour of Homes

1-4 p.m. Saturday, December 7

Includes raffle, bake sale, refreshments, and entertainment at the Northshore Country Club, 801 E. Broadway, from 1-5 p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased from Chatwork members or the Northshore Country Club the day of the event. Homes include those of Brittany and Oscar Briones, 212 Country Club; Sharon and Andrew Flores, 524 Pinehurst; Vannessa and Robert Giannamore, 922 Waterview; Donna and Wes Gore, 318 Pebble Beach; Coco and Mark Wendland, 213 Elm.


Christmas on the Coast — Holiday Skating Rink

December 2-January 4

3-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday

3-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday

1-4 p.m. Sunday

An outdoor skating rink, parades, home tours, and holiday events.

Parade and tree lighting are 6-9 p.m December 2 at Portland City Hall Complex, 2000 Billy G. Webb Drive. Entry to the rink is free on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as well on the last day, January 4. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for admission (though not required) to the Christmas in Portland Festival from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, December 14, also at Portland Community Center, 2000 Billy G. Webb Drive. Santa will be joined by Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman.
