Discover the heart of Corpus Christie when exploring the pristine beaches of the Texas Coastal Bend. Rimming the Gulf of Mexico in a constant parade of nature, you'll find Corpus Christie beaches within the city limits both downtown and on Padre Island. Separated by Packery Channel, more Corpus Christi beaches continue up Mustang Island to Port Aransas.
Use this Corpus Christi Beach Guide to find all the surf, sand, and sun you can imagine. You’ll discover everything from the best fishing piers to where to spot sea turtles, how to join a pick-up beach volleyball game, and plenty of family friendly activities. Spy on sea turtles at Padre Island National Seashore and let the little ones run free on White Cap Beach.Strolling the windswept Upper Padre Island Seawall on Michael J. Ellis Beach at sunrise and sunset is the perfect way to start and end a day at the beach.
Head to the north end of Padre Island for excellent kingfish and trout fishing or family friendly dining at the landmark Bob Hall Pier, which stretches into the Gulf of Mexico for 1,240 feet. It’s just a few miles from J.P. Luby Beach where you’ll find loads of young people playing volleyball, kiteboarding, surfing and kicking it up with sand soccer games. For a quick hop to the beach from downtown Corpus Christi, McGee Beach beckons with gentle waves and one of the best jetties for short fishing forays.
Mustang Island beaches rim the pristine barrier island comprising Mustang Island Beach and State Park, named for wild mustang horses believed to have once roamed freely in the 17th century. It’s now a paradise for windsurfers at Newport Pass Beach and a haven for myriad bird species. Mustang Beach, also known as Port Aransas Beach connects Corpus Christi beaches to Port Aransas. Other Port Aransas beaches, which include the popular Horace Caldwell Pier at I.B. Magee Beach.
One of the best things to do in Port Aransas hop on a boat at Fisherman’s Wharf for a ride to San Jose Island. It’s one of the most remote and unspoiled beaches in the Coastal Bend, so keep an eye out for ghostly pirates and buried treasure!
When looking for memorable things to do in Corpus Christi, look no further than Mother Nature’s sandy playgrounds on the Texas Coastal Bend, all of which are detailed here in the Corpus Christi Beaches Guide — your perfect vacation planner.
